Photographers Week Day 4: Annie Leibovitz

Annie Leibovitz is the most well known and prolific celebrity photographer. She, herself, is the definition of an icon, and a standard for others in her field strive to be. Leibovitz is the main photography contributer to Vanity Fair and for Vogue. She also helmed major advertising campaigns for corporations like Disney, American Express, and Louis Vuitton. Most recently you have probably seen her take on the classic Disney fairy tales, or my personal favorite, the amazing picture of Sophia Coppola and her father, Francis Ford Coppola for Louis Vuitton.

Leibovitz began her career at Rolling Stone magazine, where she was captured that now legendary photograph of John Lennon and Yoko Ono for their cover. She has photographed everyone from the Bush Adminsitration, Tom Cruise, Whoopi Goldberg, Brad Pitt, and President Obama. To learn more about her work and her life, I suggest reading this. I really love that pictorial spread and I think Kristen just looked so naturally gorgeous and fresh.

Leibovitz first shot Kristen for the Hollywood Vanity Fair cover along with other up and coming actresses Carey Mulligan, Amanda Seyfried, Abbie Cornish and several others. Leibovitz shot Rob’s current cover Vanity Fair. Now, I love Rob & Kristen, hence the name “RobstenLover”, and I love Annie Leibovitz’s work. However, I must admit, I feel like she failed them with these two shoots. I was a little dissapointed. I don’t think she really captured them at their best. Feel free to boo and scream at me in the comments. I picked my two favorite pics that she did get of them. I am confident she will get the opportunity to photograph them again.

I liked that you chose the Press Hall Band photo. I think that’s my favorite of Rob as Rob ever.
