RLC Fic Rec – Two, and then some
Happy Sunday fellow readers. I’m bring you a couple more things today I thought were pretty interesting today. First up is Two by Kalejay.
Author’s synopsis: Vampires Edward and Jasper are partners in crime who make a game of their hunt for human blood. Their brotherly dynamic is threatened when Edward meets Bella and is tempted to start playing by his own rules.
I saw this fic recced over at A Different Forest. The banner is great and the premise seems different to me so I gave it a shot. So far only one chapter is posted but it’s a great start! This is not a slash fic but clearly there will be a lot of interaction between Edward and Jasper. Seems like it will be interesting and I have to say it reminded me of The Black Dagger Brotherhood series. You can find Two HERE at FFnet.
The other fic I read this week is one called Sanctuary by Jennyfly. This story is also written by the writer of River Dam which I recced here a couple of weeks a go, and that is how I found it.
Author’s synopsis: Edward is a priest struggling with his role in the Church and facing a crisis as a man.
Talk about an original story premise, eh? Priestward! I’ll admit I was a little nervous going in to read this story. I was expecting more raunch but as taboo as the subject matter is, I think it was handled with a lot of class. Edward is a priest but once you delve into his back story you find out he became one out of desperation. Eight years into the priesthood, Edward may have been a priest on the outside but on the inside, he was still a civilian. And tho he did a lot of things that priests are not supposed to do, once he meets Bella, Edward always treats her with the utmost respect and dignity while secretly wanting her with everything in his being. If you’re expecting to get lemon after lemon in this one, don’t read it. What you do read about is the struggle Edward goes through while he comes to terms with who he really is and how he longs to be with Bella. Always, at the foremost of his mind is this girl that makes him feel alive after being numb for so long. Being a priest is not the only taboo they face – Edward is 30 and Bella is 18. This is a great Bella too. Most of the time, she is very mature and smart, and she is also simultaneously frustrated and patient with Edwards role in the community and how it keeps her from being with the man she loves. But she sees through his facade and tries to help him see who he really is. The whole fic is in EPOV. One of my favorite lines:
I hated that whispers had come between us and almost taken this from us. I hated that they made that furrow on her brow. But I fucking loved that I could make it go away.

OMG Chonga… i just plowed through Sanctuary… started last night… was up til 5:30am, slept an hour… and just finished at work… tee hee… what a risidculously awesome fic!
