Will You Marry Me, Bill?
Dear Bill Condon,
Will you marry me? Or, since I am married and you are gay, will you be my “gay husband”? Hear me out!! I am serious. I think we could be besties. We have lots in common. I know you were born and raised in an Irish Catholic family in New York City, my hometown. And you even went to Regis High School, an all-male Jesuit school, like a nice Catholic boy should. Funny enough, my ex-boyfriend from high school went to Regis and HIS name was Bill. How about that coincidence!?! It’s meant to be.
I have been following your career for a while now, and I have always been impressed by your work. Anyone who can get a great performance out of Encino Man Brendan Frazier is amazing in itself. Gods and Monsters is a beautiful film in which you directed two Oscar nominated performances from Lynn Redgrave and Ian McKellen. You even won an Oscar for your adapted screenplay. Amazing, truly. And I didn’t know you were responsible for the screenplay for the film version of Chicago in 2002.
Your version of Dreamgirls was fantastic. Even Mr. RobstenLover enjoyed the film. You put Jennifer Hudson front and center of that movie, won her an Oscar, and made her a star! Oh, how pissed Beyonce must have been! Love it, Bill. And kudos for getting Eddie Murphy an Oscar nod as well, who at that stage in his career was more famous for playing a donkey in Shrek and getting Scary-Spice pregnant than anything else. You seem to love musicals as much I do. I can picture us cozied up on the couch watching Glee every week or the musical Carousel for instance, singing along and gossiping about Beyonce. *SIGH*

I have seen all of your work. I loved Kinsey with Liam Neeson and Laura Linney. You took what could have potentially been a boring topic and and a typical biography film and made it interesting and fresh. And again, your direction garnered an Academy Award nomination for Laura. Amazing. Actors must love working with you because you seem to bring out the best in them. I can’t wait to see what you do with Breaking Dawn and the performances you get out of the cast! There is hope yet for Kellan Lutz.
You make me want to marry you even more when you say things like this:
“It was incredible. We got caught in the middle of this huge rainstorm — I’ll remember it forever…” – Bill on Filming Breaking Dawn in Brazil
“Now [Rob's] dealing with a character who’s like him. The final movie allows us to step behind the curtain of what it’s like to be a vampire. It doesn’t seem that exotic anymore; It’s trying to be more real.” – Bill on Rob in Breaking Dawn
“She’s one of the smartest actresses I’ve ever worked with. Not only does she have astonishing technical ability, she has an incredibly incisive and serious approach to character. She has just unlimited potential.”- Bill on Kristen
The more I read about you, the more I fall in love. You are a member of the Independent Feature Projects (IFP) in Los Angeles, a non-profit organization which supports independent films, as well as the Independent Writers Steering Committee, which was started by the Writers Guild of America (WGA). You have won awards from GLAAD and are an outspoken individual about equal rights.
Bill, take a moment to consider my proposal. I don’t have much to offer you other than killer Italian home-cooking, an insane knowledge of Pop Culture [Note from C2R: It really IS insane], and a genuine love of Rob, Kristen, and the Twilight Saga. I can’t wait to see what you do with Breaking Dawn and the many films you will create in years to come.
Love,
RobstenLover

Loved the post RL!! I am so excited to see what Bill has in store for us with Breaking Dawn. I have had my reservations with directors for this franchise in the past, but for some reason I have not worried about BD at all. And considering this book is probably the most difficult to pull off on screen, that says a lot! I think Condon’s past projects speak for themselves, and what I have seen so far of BD has given me no reason to doubt him. Great job with the post RL!! i hope that Bill accepts your proposal..hehe <3
great post! the man surely knows how to make us fall in love
btw, there’s a lovely amount of “Italian” people and Italy lovers here on rl.com
