RLC Fic Rec – Stranger Than Fiction
Today I’m reccing you several things. I’m starting with Stranger than Fiction by masenvixen.
Author’s synopsis: Six years after Edward left, Bella’s written a bestselling book about a girl and the vampire who loves her. Edward returns to her, hell-bent on recapturing the happily ever after that he destroyed.
This is one of those fics I was saving for the longest, waiting for it to finish updating before I read it. Earlier this week this story completed, so I jumped on it right away. This story takes place 6 years after Edward leaves Bella in New Moon. After Bella recovers (somewhat) from his departure, she goes on to college, and then as a form of therapy writes about her brief but intense relationship with Edward, the vampire. She ends up selling the manuscript, classified as fiction of course, and becoming an overnight sensation. In other words, she is Stephenie Meyer! Sorta. While on a book tour, tragic events at home force her to go back to Forks and relive it all. Except guess who shows up, too?? Bella was not the only one unable to get past her relationship with Edward. He too had a bad 6 years, doing his best to forget. But he’s just as infatuated as she is.
For anyone who loves canon Edward and use of events and details from the Twilight saga books, this fic is for you. So many cool things were incorporated into this story! I won’t say what they were but you’ll know ‘em when you read it. The writer did a a great freaking job. And all the UST that gave us blue clits while reading SM’s version is fully realized in this story. Not right away, mind you. Bella makes Edward work to get her back, but once it’s on, it is ON. Bathroom scene people. Just remember the bathroom scene! *squirms*
I don’t read many vamp fics, but I highly recommend this one. As soon as I finished it, I was itching to reread the Twilight books.
But did I? Nope. I started reading a couple of other things. Like Riding the Fence by morethanmyself.
Author’s synopsis: He’s everything she thought she’d never want. He just wanted to get in her pants. Which side of the fence does she land on? “I don’t go all fan-girl crush on anybody. I don’t plan on starting now, either, especially over some random boy.”
This is not a complete fic, but I was intrigued by the idea of Bella being bisexual and Edward being in lust over heels for her anyway. In fact, in the opening chapter there is a lemon of Bella having sex with another woman. It’s not that bad, but it does a good job of setting up the story – Bella’s current preference for women and the fact that it is on purpose. Clearly she’s got issues she is dealing with.
An excerpt: Alice is rolling her eyes at her idiot boyfriend, before she looks at me smugly. “This, Bella Swan, is my cousin, Edward Cullen.” I stare at her in shock for a minute, praying to baby Jesus that this is some kind of joke, and not a fucked up version of six degrees of separation. Pretty Boy, who I have jilled off to every night since I saw him a week ago, cannot be related to Satan’s Mistress. Oh fuck. I’ve masturbated to a relative of Alice’s. I think I just threw up a little in my mouth. I mean shit, yes, I fuck women and lots of them, but even I have standards.
If done correctly, this fic could be incredibly hot. I cannot imagine the things they can make Edward do and say to woo Bella into his pants. Gah. You gotta have an open mind for the first 10 chapters though. At least until Edward succeeds. C’mon, who has doubts he will get his girl?? It’s Edward!
I also started reading a fic called Through the Oak Door by struckatthesky.
Author’s synopsis: One kiss sparks the clues, but what do they all mean? Bella dreams of her future self, knowing the life she lives ends in tragedy. How can she change her story when she already knows the ending? The door is there, but where is the key?
With only 14 chapters posted so far, this fic is pretty awesome. I’m only 5 chapters into the story, but it’s got a fantasy/mystery feel to it. I’ve seen several people throughout the fandom talking it up, so I thought I’d plug it here as well, since I am liking it so much.

Ooh just started Stranger than Fiction, and I am already loving it!!! I get a feeling I am not going to be able to put this one down. Hello sleepless nights! i have a thing for a cannon Edward.
