RLC Fic Rec – Pressed For Time
Anybody who knows me is always surprised when I hit a fic that has less than 20 chapters posted. I get impatient waiting for updates, especially on great stories. But sometimes, you’re in the mood for something brand new, something very few people talk about. This week I’m reccing a story that falls under those parameters. It’s called Pressed For Time by twanza.
Author’s synopsis: Is it possible to fall in love in five minutes? “He showed me what he was reading and, accidentally, I think he may have shown me his soul.”
This story originally started as a one shot submitted for a contest. At the urging of readers, the authors decided to expand it. Edward meets Bella at a “shop”. It’s really an adult store and she works in the back in what is probably considered a booth. He shows up there, puts money in the machine and a screen lifts up, unveiling Bella, fully dressed, hanging out. Of course he only has so long before the screen comes back down, hence the fics title. During a collection of these few minutes, Edward falls for Bella, feeling a connection unlike any other. Not even with his wife, Tanya. Exept one day the screen lifts, and Bella is no more. Edward is a tired man, bored with his life and it was in those few visits he had with Bella that he felt alive. They never spoke. Then one day Edward and Tanya go to visit Tanya’s parents and when they go to church, guess who is there! Turns out Bella is mute and she translates what the priest says with sign language. Edward is shocked, but fully recharged. For now he is focused on finding out more about her. Even if it comes at the expense of his marriage.
Eventually he and Tanya go back home, and pursuit begins. Edward feels compelled to find a way to spend time with Bella, even though she lives in another city. He succeeds and finds out Bella has a Tumblr account where she posts erotic musings and photos. He begins to correspond with her through there. And she back! Though she has no clue it’s Edward she is writing to. Eventually they even garner the attention of gossip bloggers. Everyone wants to know who these two are, pining for each other online.
I’ve told you a lot about what happens in this story. If all this isn’t enough to convince you to read this fic, then maybe having an Emmett who is in love with his cat Rose, will. There is so much goodness here. Awesome writing, Edwards inner thoughts are amazing. Esme is pretty funny, as is Jasper. Eventually shit happens with Tanya. I could gush and spoil even more, but I’d like to think I have already convinced you to read this story! Please do so and leave the writers some love. This awesome little story only has 622 reviews. It is deserving of so much more.
