RLC Fic Rec – Starry Eyed Inside

Merry Christmas, fellow fic readers! Hope you had a great one. And I know everyone is all up The Plan’s ass. I will soon be going there myself once this post is published. Last weeks rec The Mail Order Bride was a lot of fun. I really enjoyed the historical accuracy the writer brought into her story. I felt like I was reading a Harlequin Special Edition book again too ;) But I am bringing you something today that you will want to read once you are done with The Plan. Because once you finish a great fic you always want another! I’m suggesting you go for Starry Eyed Inside by Rochelle Allison.

Author’s synopsis: High School Fictional. No one sends Bella into a tailspin quite like Edward Cullen… but can she make him hers? The ups and downs and all arounds.

Gah. That banner alone makes me wanna read this baby! Remember when you had a crush on some guy who you liked so much, it drove you nuts? And he was all you could think of, imagine being able to kiss him, hang out with him, know all his secrets? I never got that guy. My guys name was Danny L. and he drove me NUTS. Believe it or not, he even played the piano! But lordy, when I’d get to see a glimpse of that guy walking down the hall in high school, it would make my heart race. He was that potent combo of brains, athleticism, good looks and niceness. And all I got were my fantasies because my secret crush remained just that. An unrequited crush. Well in this fic, it was the same scenario for Bella, except she got her Danny L., ala Edward.

Hope you all are as much fans of the high school fics as me because this is the quintessential one. Full of shenanigans and teeniness and all of it is told beautifully. A sample:

Sometimes Edward would glance around, and once he looked at me for a second. I imagined being hooked up to one of those heart rate machines at the hospital, and how the neon green line would spike every time he moved.

He’d look at me, and it would go off the freaking charts.

This fic is still a work in progress but I’m guessing it is about 75% done. For those of you who decide to read it, you’re starting it in the perfect place. The story starts out with Bella at age 14 and her first glimpse of Edward (she is currently 18). It plays out during her high school days and all that ensues involving mostly Edward, but the rest of the Twilight gang is present. It is also not set in Forks but in a small beach side town in Florida. So there are lots of beach scenes. If there was ever a fic that could easily transport you to where it takes place in with its descriptions and activities, this is it. So many times I could hear the ocean and feel the suns heat. I’m getting all poetic for Pete’s sake, but this story is that good! The writer does an amazing job of really taking you into the scenes and the characters. You could easily put yourself in this Bella’s shoes, especially since the whole story is told in Bella’s POV (though I would kill for a chapter in EPOV! Especially during a certain part of the story..you’ll see what I mean). This Bella is also very likable. She is really mature and level headed. Edward is as always Edward. Sigh. Lemons occur, many of them in secret because, hello, they’re in high school.

This story also focuses solely on Edward and Bella so even though you find out what is going on with everyone else, it only skims the surface with them. You won’t even care though. Edward and Bella will have you pretty entertained. Can’t wait to see what else will happen in this story! The story has reached a crucial point and I’m very tempted to not read anymore until the story is complete just to be able to immerse myself in this little world the way you only can when you have a large chunk of the story to read. Give this one a chance! I know you’re gonna love it!
