Rob So Funny
There have been rumblings, some louder than others, about Rob hosting Saturday Night Live. Ted says he doesn’t see it happening. He stated that “Rob isn’t really one for live skits”. I disagree. I think it would be a great gig for him and a great “get” for SNL. Not only do I think he could pull it off, but I think he would totally rock the house with his awesomeness.
For starters, Rob is HOT. Duh! And not just in the panty-poofing-power kind of way. He’s the man of the hour, the “it” guy if you will. Ask Oprah! She called his burst of fame a phenomenon (pronounced feeeee-nomenon) as many times over the course of an hour as humanly possible. And Oprah is always right. The Twihard Nation alone could make this a slam dunk even if no one else watched. Not to mention that he has 3 movies slated to hit theaters over the next year or so. I’m sure SNL would want to capitalize on that kind of mojo. Hotness = Thru-the-Roof Ratings.
Secondly, Rob is FUNNY. Sometimes he makes jokes on purpose, and sometimes the joke’s on him. But he is always a great sport. He even has experience doing skits. He exhibited some mad skillz in the commercial with Tom Cruise/Les Grossman for the MTVMAs this year. And he was freaking brilliant with Jimmy Fallon in “Robert is Bothered”. Shit, wouldn’t it be great to have Jimmy do a guest spot with Rob?! A special “Robert is Bothered by SNL skits”.
On to the show itself. Here are my ideas on how Rob could work his magic:
MONOLOGUE: What would Rob talk about? Probably about how bad he is at driving or sports. We all know how self-deprecating he can be. He could work that in and have the audience roaring! Or maybe he could discuss the difference between American Humor and British Humor. That could work. He also likes to talk about American words that are difficult for Brits to pronounce, like nachos and pasta. I know he’s discussed it before, but it’s funny.
SKITS: I’ve already mentioned a Jimmy Fallon cameo for a new “Robert is Bothered” skit. That would be amazing! I was thinking that Rob could do a MacGruber skit as well. He was hilarious in “Bad Ass Cops”. It’s similar, and I’d love to see him rock the mustache again. Lol! I would also love a Martha Stewart-type skit where Rob is making loquat pie. Rob in an apron, making KStew pie?! I think I might D.I.E. And of course there should probably be a Twilight spoof of some sort. Everyone makes fun of it. Rob should get his chance.
MUSICAL GUEST: This is a fun one! Of course, my first thought is: Rob could be the musical guest! GAH!! Play his old stuff or debut some new material. *Melts* But if he wasn’t willing/interested/able, my second choice would be Sam Bradley. It’s the natural choice. He’s Rob’s bestie and his music is a perfect fit for SNL.
For all of these reasons and more, I think Rob should be asked to host SNL this season. And now that I think about it, he really should get the Season Premiere slot. Just sayin…

Rob could TOTES pull of SNL, no question about it. Sometimes his humor is off the wall and it may take a while to sink in for us Americans, but as you said, that could work to his advantage in a skit or monologue referencing the differences between American and British humor. Loved the post, HEA!
"Rob is hot..and not just in the panty poofing power kind of way"
lol
LOVE IT !
I agree Rob would be great for SNL.
Sometimes a lot of people dont get his humor but I sure as hell do as well as lots of other people and I think he's hilarious.
There are times when he's not even trying to be funny HE JUST IS and I adore that about him
Great Post.
I think it would be cool if RobSten co-hosted SNL and did a Twilight parody together. But Rob doing it by himself would be great too, cause her has his own brand of humor.
Rob hosting SNL, MAGIC! Robsten hosting SNL….that would be PHENOMENAL!!! Dont worry, I dont listen to that Ted guy either. While he might have some entertaining gossip, this guy isnt the most credible source and has been wrong on MANY ocassions. Rob could totally pull off SNL and should!
I love your ideas! My favorite is the one of Fallon joining Rob for a skit. Maybe Fallon is Jealous, that Rob is on someone else's show.
Great job, bb! As always!
I have no doubt that Rob can totally pull SNL off, and your ideas rock!! It would be my dream come true and go streight to heaven if he and Kristen do a double host thing!! It would be a show go down to history !!
I think Rob would do great on SNL IF he wanted to do it. Please don't hate me, but Rob has never actually said he wanted to do SNL. If they do approach him, he should do it because he wants to, not because fans think he should. Just my 2 cents.
I would love Rob host SNL, the Martha Stewart loquat making pies is one thing I'm dreaming about. I choke on my water when I saw Robert on MTV that night and I even went to RL to check if its really him on GIF. He can do Mr. Darcy with the twist or Prime minister skit.
Great idea…wrong time! SNL has not had writers befitting vintage SNL over the last few years, and I would hate for Rob to be sucked into the idea like TL and bomb, with the material, not Rob bombing. I thought Taylor was good with the material handed to him, but the writing sucked BIG TIME! Even Betty White's material was lacking, even though that SNL show was one their biggest watched.
Yeah, I know, it would be a ratings bonanza for SNL, but Rob would be the one taking all the hits…just not fair!
Again, Robsten hosting could be…no, not even.
Im sorry, I might be the ONLY one but I just dont see it. Rob is a hilarious guy… but its HIS humor. Not lines written for him. Plus, I see him over analyzing every skit to death before he feels like he is going to vomit before they go live lol
I think he could be great, if he didn't get too nervous. I shudder when I think of him speeding through the reading he did for the telethon. But they DO rehearse, which would help.
Also, KStew could make a cameo! A lot of actors do that… like Justin Long appearing in a skit when Drew Barrymore was hosting, Cameron Diaz appearing in a skit when Justin Timberlake was hosting. That would certainly make tongues wag.
you know what their problem is? They're MORONS. They can't handle Rob. Are you kidding me? That guy is so damn flippin' ass hilarious, he would overpower SNL and they wouldn't be able to handle it. They're worried he'll outshine them. I'm sorry..Rob just is naturally one of the most hilarious people I have ever listened to. I find myself literally getting sick to my stomach in hysterics over the things he says. He's TOO funny.
He doesn't need SNL anyway. he's too good for them. If they want to be a bunch of intimidated jackasses…it's their problem.
Rob would probably freak – aging about 10 years in the week. I think Rob is hilarious though.
Ok. Sorry I love Rob but seriously? He isn't too good for SNL. Plenty of celebrities do SNL. It is a right of passage. SNL whether the writing is good or bad allows actors to show they can think on their feet. It allows them to work in an extremely creative environment for a week. Some of the most talented comedians for the last 3 decades have come from SNL.
We may forget it but Rob is still new to fame. It was just two years ago where people knew him as that guy from HP. Again I love Rob but Tom Hanks who is a two time oscar winner has done SNL and Steve Martin who is a comedian has done SNL. Rob is funny, witty, & charming. I think he would do great. He may not want to do it because of nerves, but it is a major way to promote a movie, instead of having to do talk show after talk show.
In the monologue he could also talk about his experiences with the rabid psychos, also known as crazy fangirls.
