Ladies & Gentlemen, we have to have a little chat about Eclipse. I can’t believe I have to tell you this, but the success of these books hinges on our love for Edward & Bella and their story. Their love for one another is rebellious, desperate, passionate, and unwavering. The “love triangle” that you tried to create in New Moon doesn’t really exist in the books. When you read them, you never think for a moment that Bella will leave Edward in favor of Jacob. She loves Jacob and cares about him as a friend, but her feelings for Edward run smuch deeper & truer, so that there’s really no comparison. Poor Jacob, he certainly tries to convince Bella otherwise – but he never had a chance. Since it’s told from Bella’s point of view there is never a question about who she is in-love with. Ever. Ask Kristen, she’ll tell you! That girl is insightful & smart and so much better at interviewing now, especially when she believes in what she’s selling. So make her a believer & others will follow.
Speaking of which, I haven’t seen any of the cast as excited about this movie as they were about Twilight & New Moon. Not even close. Should I be concerned about that? Because I gotta tell ya, I’m nervous as shit! I was a wee bit worried when you selected a Director who talked smack about the franchise in the past; not such a good choice maybe. Then I started sweating a little more when Slade tweeted about releasing a trailer & then not releasing a trailer. Huh? What the hell happened there? I don’t think I want to know. Then there was the hysteria over re-shoots. I understand that they’re relatively common in the biz, but the vibe around these is that they were more re-working entire scenes that weren’t done properly in the first place, instead of simple re-shoots & edit jobs. Scary stuff! And there was even talk of another director for those re-shoots?! Yikes! It may not have gone down that way, but the fact that it was even considered a possibility at any point does not sound good, at all. I’m not even going to get into the reports of fighting on set during this time. I am aware that disagreements happen, but it didn’t put a good face on an already tense situation. It had the fans in a complete tizzy! And the Twihards are an excitable bunch, in case you haven’t noticed. *smirks*
I’m hoping that you and Melissa Rosenberg have gotten your heads out of Jacob’s ass long enough to realize that Edward is the star of Eclipse. We kinda understand why you had to insist on Jacobpalooza for New Moon since Edward was away for most of the book, but now it’s time for Edward to shine, or sparkle so to speak, & you better not screw it up! Robert Pattinson is hotter than the surface of the sun right now! HOLLA! He’s a marketing department’s wet dream (and I used to work in marketing, so this I know). Besides his obvious good looks, he seems smart, funny, and a little goofy – which is actually very charming! Why you wouldn’t use the biggest phenomenon to come along since New Kids on the Block in order to sell this film is beyond me. I would make sure he got as much screen time as humanly possible in this film, as well as out promoting it, if I were you. But I’m not you, fortunately or unfortunately.
Just please tell me we are not gonna see the same Taycob Promo Express Tour that we did for New Moon! I know that Rob is busy filming another movie right now, and that will be your excuse for not having him as visible during promos. But he’s filming in LA, so that excuse won’t hold any water with me. I am already seeing scheduled appearances with all 3 leads together, all 3 separate, and some with Kristen & Taylor alone, without Rob. Will we see anything with Kristen & Rob alone, without Taylor? Probably not, right? What are you so damn afraid of? Speaking of which, I haven’t seen one promo pic of just Edward & Bella. Everything I’ve seen so far are of all 3 leads together. I don’t know if you remember this or not, but Edward asks Bella to marry him in this book/film. More than once. And she says yes. So, you may want to consider at least one poster, pic, banner of just the two of them. It might be a best-seller or something. Just sayin’.
Please prove me wrong! This was my fave book of the saga & I know there are lots of peeps who feel the same. I’m really pissed at the thought of it not being my fave film too. Do right by Edward & Bella and the readers/fans who love them.

Preach it sister! I totally agree! Edward+Bella is the core of the Twilight Saga. Jacob is a key player in all of this? YES. BUT the heart and soul of the story is Edward AND Bella. Period. Get it right once and for all Summit: We want Edward and Bella.
Awesome post HEA! My thoughts exactly. Eclipse was my favorite book..so I have high hopes for this movie…am I nervous…Hell Yes! But I am trying to remain optimistic. Today's announcement of K&T; going to both Korea and Australia was very upsetting to me. I know that Rob is filming..but I am tired of the Jacob push. I got more than i could stomach in the New Moon promo. Nothing against Taylor…but Edward and Bella are what makes these books loved. It's the love between the two of them that captivated it's readers. Yes NM was Jacob centric..but Eclipse is a very E&B; heavy book…It seems that Summit and MR forget that as far as Bella was concerned there was never truly a choice. It was always B&E.; I will be extremely disappointed it Rob is not included in much of the promo tour..especially the European tour…as we have gotten so many Robsten moments during the past Euro tours. And I am in total agreement…why can't Rob and Kris attend a promo alone. Why is it ok for K&T; but not R&K…Summit; makes absolutely no sense. Well there was my rant..sorry

HEA — while I may not completely agree with your assessment of the storyline entanglements, I do share the concern over pushing TayCob for the promotion at the sake of having events that focus solely on the Edward and Bella angle a la Twilight events.
You outlined perfectly the issues a lot of us fans have over the way Summit has handled the promotional aspect of the franchise, even if some of it can be understood from the perspective of tapping into as wide a fan base as possible.

LOL! Awesome job, bb. And I couldn't agree more. The time for Jacob is over. Why in the hell Summit would prefer to continue to ignore the raw chemistry that Rob and Kristen have during promotional times is beyond me.

i'm nervous too cause the eclipse clip seems to be equal edward and jacob even the ultimate kiss between edward n bella they shown in the clip..scummit trying so hard to drag team edward to get excitement..
but what happened when we have seen the movie there are no left scene between edward and bella…the rest is jacob, newborn, riley, wolfpack…Pfttt…dissapointement like new moon…
and we understand rob busy filming but please…where interview, promo just edward and bella???
if eclpise fail like new moon, i don't get it what kind Breaking dawn story the scumhead would bring???
Excellent post HEA. While I'm looking forward to the action and all that very much the most important thing will of course always be Edward & Bella.
@ ciropeto I'm not sure what you're talking about, however New Moon didn't fail anything. It was fabulous, and better than Twilight. We were just unhappy with the direction they seem to be taking Jacob for both the movie & promotion.
Great post!!! Couldn't agree more!!! I had high hopes for NM (even though not my fave book) but was wholly disappointed at the utter lack of Edward/Bella. Eclipse, the book, was my absolutely favorite in the series and I hope that the movie will not ruin that for me. It sure seems like they are ramping up the love triangle. I hope that is not at the expense of the E/B relationship.
I agree with your post, I'm concerned, look at the clip when Jacob and Bella come home after he kissed her. Angry Edward? The book was much better scene, kinda funny, the "pup" remark, Edward was very calm, yet firm when he spoke to Jacob, & Bella was in Edward's car smirking, NOT trying to keep them apart. Hoo boy, hopefully the get the "good" scenes right.
They need to get it right……
I totally agree!!! that is why SM wrote the freaking book, she dream about two poeple in the meadow and its E/B. The whole book is about E/B, the story is the journey of how they survive all that, and this … and still be together. Love triagle is totally useless to push, cause Bella always been belong to Edward. And about the promo(as much i want R/K Moments)i don't mind if they do it there way(Summit), just happy that attention is not focuse on the real relationship of the two main actors(press is sneaky sometimes) and there is Rob(talks and talks)make sweat that he might slip the not to be "named". So, maybe im paranoid too … but if the promo is Kstew and Tay or Kstew,Rob and Tay i don't mind … i just want to see the movie and enjoy the "KISS" of Bella Swan and Edward Cullen*sigh*.

They made up a love triangle and always pushed Jacob/Bella love story… Kristen and Taylor promotion without Rob is very annoying!!

As much as I like Taycob – i dont understand Summit's obvious attempt to use him for marketing instead of Rob… If Summit is still trying to 'separate' R and K during promotions – well, that's really stupid.. and Im quite disappointed with the amount of press junkies they are giving Eclipse.. WHY!?! as well as not getting why R&K; cannot promote by just the 2 of them… even just in Jimmy Fallon… *wishful thinking*
at least there's still the Twilight convention where all three are present…

@ciropeto, I'm with you…did not care for NM, was very disappointed with Edward's makeup and the unrealistic matching of B/J…the book was more believable (although didn't care for Jacob there either). I must admit, however, that CW followed the book more closely and the vivid imagery of the book was absolutely on the mark. Bravo for imagery! Thumbs down for makeup and romance…
THANK YOU for saying everything Ive been thinking for the longest time! I am so scared they are going to mess this movie up! Eclipse was NOT about Bella being torn over who she loved.
She didnt even no she had feelings for Jacob like that until close to the end! And even then she wasnt even considering choosing him! This is what I HATE about depending on a screen writer to adapt a book for the theaters. They ALWAYS mess it up!

, Eclipse is my favorite book of the series and Slade was sketchy at best when signed on to direct a series he mocked. But hopefully all this dramz will not effect the movie. Afterall, those Eclipse reshoots were not per Spade's request. And yes, Summit, Rob IS the star, not Taylor. He may be more malleable, but the fans (the mature ones anyway) are not interested in hearing the scripted answer. We want Rob for what and who he is; brilliant, funny, witty and thoughtful. Thank you,I've been noticing the lack of E & B posters. Even in New Moon, there was the one where Bella is like clinging to Edward. They get engaged in Eclipse and not even 1 tiny poster of the 2 of them. I agree about Taylor/Jacob, he's not the lead of the movie even if Summit keeps trying to push it. There's only one male lead and that's Robward. J is merely an obstacle for the main characters to overcome. I hate how Summit keeps promoting it as a love triangle and "it all begins with a choice", it was never a choice for Bella, its always Edward.
Even with BD, where is clearly Edward & Bella's love story, Summit will find a way to shove Jacob in there. I miss those Twilight days where it was just Rob/Kristen with the promo. Nothing against Taylor or anything.

Great post, I totally agree with everything you said. I know a lot of us are nervous about the movie. Let's hope they didn't totally ef it up. I'm sure it will be a good movie but… Those of us who have read the books know that Bella and Edward falling in love is the core of the story. I know that Summit wants to draw a bigger audience or something, but I will feel bad not only for myself but for all the fans too if they've taken the triangle thing too far. It's been said several times before, there never was a choice. I'd like to scream " didn't you read the damn book?! " to MR, DS, and Summit, and where was SM during all this? Well maybe I'm putting the cart before the horse, I get a little passionate about Eclipse, it's my favorite book in the series. Or, maybe I don't know what I'm talking about, but it felt good to vent anyway. I'm still excited to see this movie nervous or not, after all we get to see Edward and Bella up on the big screen again! Let's all hope for the best. To Chonga: you said it best about MR and Summit taking their heads out of Jacobs ass, best comment I've ever heard!
Maybe Summit's pushing Taycob because they want to increase his fan base while Rob isn't around. Maybe they have a movie in mind for him to try and make lots of money for them. Tay is so boring and politically correct and not funny at all.

Awesome post and I know there are tons of fans who feel the same! I love Eclipse. It is my fave book and I am all about Edward and Bella. Before New Moon the movie, I didnt mind Taylor but they just hyped him to the point of being annoying. I was being force fed Jacob/Taylor BS and it was not good! I feel like this past year has been like hearing a song on repeat the whole time. It has gotten old. Taylor is boring. How many different ways can you say Jacob was the friend there when Edward wasn't or the line that annoys me the most….I gained 30lbs for this role. We know Taylor! We even applauded the effort but that was over a YEAR ago. Get over it already. Now if you would have found a way to grow taller for the role so you could actually look like Jacob….now that would have been impressive and something to talk about for a year.
I really hope they give the fans what they want. Edward and Bella are where it is at and you said it perfectly. Where in the world is a poster of just Edward and Bella? Thats what I want to buy! And I swear if they dont give the Cullens a chance to shine like they let the wolf pack in New Moon I will be furious. Summit give the fans what they want. It amazes me how they can have all of this amazing material and cast to work with and still manage to screw up so much.
