The Twilight Effect
Twilight. Like a big historical event, some of us remember (not ME, of course) exactly where we were when we first heard of it, saw it, picked up the book, so on and so forth. It’s made a ridiculously huge impact on our lives, so much so that a large portion of the world now waits breathlessly for any tiny mention of it – pictures of it’s stars, interviews, songs on the soundtracks, filming updates, you get the idea. In fact, if you’re reading this, you KNOW what I mean and don’t try to deny it. Won’t work. I got you cold, baby.
You can now buy an Edward shower curtain, a Pocket Jacob, sparkly “toys”
for big girls and boys, and an unholy amount of other Twi-inspired merchandise; including very real fangs (!). I’ll bet 95% of America will be strolling down the street, through their malls, and drinking in bars and clubs dressed as a vampire, wolf, or a character from the series come October 31st, including your Aunt Grace & Uncle Fred. They may be keeping it on the down low, but trust me. They’re totally into it. Don’t be shocked when you run across them looking all guilty and red-faced and shit.

Twilight has permeated every corner of our society, and I’d like to mention one corner in particular, that being Twitter. I first ran across a person in the Twitter Twilight circle with great musical taste named SpankRansom. After following her, I discovered that she is one of 4 lovely members of “The League”. This is short for “The League Of Extraordinary Twilighters” at Twilightheaded.com. Yes, definitely check them out, they are fabulous, and we are affiliates now.
But what happened next was even better. She met a “Jasper” named “jasperyourxanax” and they fell in love. Yep. THE Jasper. It was so fun watching them interact on twitter, and I was drawn to their story, a lot like the way I was drawn into the story of Edward and Bella, and then Rob and Kristen. They’re sweet – blipping each other love songs, more often than not having hilarious conversations, and now that there’s a wedding in the near future, I am giggling every day at Jasper’s good-natured endurance of Spank’s preparations. A bachelorette party is even in the works, being held at the vamp bar called Fangtasia, owned by @ericnortham, of course.
I distinctly remember when Jasper turned Spank into a vampire. She ran from friend to friend on twitter, running circles around everyone, trying out her new superspeed, disdainfully sniffing wolves, along with other newborn vamp activities. And she cutely enough changed her name to Spankpire Ransom. Jasper has his Cullen family and they also cross paths with um, hot Volturi men {one of whom I also follow because he’s… interesting.
} A lot of their days are spent sitting in a tree, and often they forget the rest of us are around when it’s “sexy time”. A tweet from Spank today:
@SpankRansom Vampire foreplay, brought to you by Duncan Hines! *note to @jasperyourxanax – buy a case… for tomorrow* http://pic.gd/b82bc8
You do the math. ![]()
Adorableness.
The bottom line is: a 21st century form of Soap Opera has sprung from Twilight for us to enjoy, and to an addictive personality like mine, (think TV shows, motorcycles, and completely unattainable men like actors and singers, NOT crack, meth, etc…. I’m harmless people, lol.) it’s like, uhhhhhhh, yeah.
It’s like Crack. I suggest you all go get you some. Now.
(If you want “the truth”, you can go to Jasperyourxanax ‘s twitter page and click on his website.)
I myself prefer to live in Twitter world, where Superheroes like SpankRansom and Edward’s hot-assed brother can meet, fall in love, and entertain us thoroughly.

Thank you for an absolutely wonderful depiction of our love story. It was a wonderful reminder for both of us how deeply we love and how much fun we have. I hope your followers will follow @JasperYourXanax and I as we prepare for our big day. I think tomorrow I'm going to have him help pick out a wedding song! *laughs*
LOL! Oh Evs. Sparkly Toys for Big Girls & Boys. I wonder how many people actually have those? Good luck with your wedding Spank!
Love me some Twi-crack, Ever:)
